‘Wanted’ announces Broadway cast

NEW YORK—The new musical WANTED has announced its full Broadway cast and creative team. Rehearsals are now underway ahead of previews beginning October 15, 2026, at the James Earl Jones Theatre. Opening night is set for November 8.

Solea Pfeiffer (Hadestown, Gatsby: An American Myth) will star as Mary Clarke. Meanwhile, Liisi LaFontaine (Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Dreamgirls) will play her twin sister, Martha Clarke. Grammy Award winner Ledisi will appear as Tallulah Clarke.

The principal cast also includes Luke James as Elijah, Bradley Jaden as Jesse, Aurelia Williams as Sissy and Awa Sal Secka as Flo.

In addition, Ximone Rose will serve as standby for Mary and Martha. Melody A. Betts, Aaron Arnell Harrington, Jennie Harney-Fleming, Rayshun LaMarr, Hailey Thomas and Harris Matthew Turner will play the Kinfolk. The group serves as a chorus of ancestors who guide the Clarke sisters on their journey.

A story of sisters on the run

Set in Texas in 1893, WANTED follows twin sisters Mary and Martha Clarke. The two Black women pass for white while trying to protect their family and its future. However, powerful forces threaten their plans. Soon, the sisters must take desperate measures to fight for their family’s legacy and the inheritance they have long been denied.

The musical draws inspiration from a Clarke family story passed down through generations.

Angelica Chéri, a descendant of the Clarke sisters, wrote the book and lyrics. Ross Baum composed the music. Tony Award nominee Stevie Walker-Webb directs, while Chelsey Arce provides choreography.

The creative team also includes scenic designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designer Emilio Sosa, lighting designer Adam Honoré, sound designer Gareth Owen and video and projection designer Stefania Bulbarella.

WANTED previously played Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia, in 2020. Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, later staged the musical in 2024.

WANTED begins previews October 15 and opens November 8 at the James Earl Jones Theatre, 138 W. 48th Street.
