NEW YORK– Tony and Grammy Award-winning, three-time Emmy and two-time Academy Award-nominated performer Leslie Odom, Jr. will make a highly anticipated return to Broadway this fall in his critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning role as Aaron Burr in Hamilton. The original star is set to reprise his wildly successful and iconic portrayal of Aaron Burr, which comes nine years after he took his final bow in July 2016.

Odom begins performances on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 for a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street, New York, NY 10036).

The announcement was made this morning during Odom’s live appearance on NBC’s “The Today Show.” To celebrate the news, a new block of tickets has been released and is now on sale through November 23, 2025 at hamiltonmusical.com.

Leslie Odom, Jr.’s performance

“Returning to Hamilton is a deeply meaningful homecoming,” said Leslie Odom, Jr. “I’m so grateful for the chance to step back into the room—especially during this anniversary moment—and to revisit this brilliant piece that forever changed my life and the lives of so many.”

“When I saw Leslie perform “The Room Where It Happens” at the first act two workshop of Hamilton, I knew I was witnessing a historic moment. How lucky we are that Leslie is returning to Hamilton and bringing his indelible Burr back to Broadway,” said Hamilton’s lead producer Jeffrey Seller.

Odom originated the role of Aaron Burr in Hamilton’s Off-Broadway and Broadway productions, earning a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical and a Grammy Award as a principal soloist on the Original Broadway Cast Recording.

Odom’s other career highlights

Last season, Odom made his Broadway return as a producer and star in the acclaimed revival of Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch by Ossie Davis. The production earned six Tony Award nominations, including one for Odom’s performance, and aired as part of PBS’ “Great Performances.”

Odom’s career spans stage, screen, music, and literature. He received two Academy Award nominations for his portrayal of Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami, directed by Regina King, and has starred in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, The Many Saints of Newark, Harriet, and more. Television credits include “Central Park,” “Abbott Elementary,” “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder,” and Hamilton on Disney+. He also hosted “The Tony Awards Present: Broadway’s Back!” on CBS.

A New York Times bestselling author, Odom recently re-released his inspirational memoir Failing Up in paperback (March 2025) and is the co-author—alongside Nicolette Robinson—of the New York Times bestselling children’s book I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know. He has released five studio albums, including his most recent, When A Crooner Dies (2023).

THE FILM OF THE ORIGINAL BROADWAY PRODUCTION
TO STREAM DIRECTLY IN HOMES WORLDWIDE EXCLUSIVELY ON DISNEY+ BEGINNING JULY 3, 2020

BURBANK, Calif. (May 12, 2020)—The Walt Disney Company, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jeffrey Seller and Thomas Kail are pleased to announce that Disney+ will fast track the premiere of the filmed version of the original Broadway production of “Hamilton,” bringing the 11-time-Tony Award®-, GRAMMY Award®-, Olivier Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning stage musical to homes around the world on July 3, 2020.

Producers for “Hamilton,” the film of the original Broadway production, include Miranda, Seller, and Kail, who also directs.

The film is a leap forward in the art of “live capture” which transports its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way. Combining the best elements of live theater, film, and streaming, the result is a cinematic stage performance that is a wholly new way to experience “Hamilton.”

“No other artistic work in the last decade has had the cultural impact of ‘Hamilton’—an inspiring and captivating tale told and performed in a powerfully creative way. In light of the extraordinary challenges facing our world, this story about leadership, tenacity, hope, love and the power of people to unite against the forces of adversity is both relevant and impactful,” said Robert A. Iger, Executive Chairman of The Walt Disney Company. “We are thrilled to bring this phenomenon to Disney+ on the eve of Independence Day, and we have the brilliant Lin-Manuel Miranda and the team behind ‘Hamilton’ to thank for allowing us to do so more than a year before planned.”

“I’m so proud of how beautifully Tommy Kail has brought ‘Hamilton’ to the screen. He’s given everyone who watches this film the best seat in the house,” said Lin-Manuel Miranda. “I’m so grateful to Disney and Disney+ for reimagining and moving up our release to July 4th weekend of this year, in light of the world turning upside down. I’m so grateful to all the fans who asked for this, and I’m so glad that we’re able to make it happen. I’m so proud of this show. I can’t wait for you to see it.”

Filmed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June of 2016, “Hamilton” features Tony Award® winners Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton; Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson; Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler; Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr; Tony Award nominees Christopher Jackson as George Washington; Jonathan Groff as King George; Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton; and Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds; Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison; and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.

The cast also includes Carleigh Bettiol, Ariana DeBose, Hope Easterbrook, Sydney James Harcourt, Sasha Hutchings, Thayne Jasperson, Elizabeth Judd, Jon Rua, Austin Smith, Seth Stewart and Ephraim Sykes.
